79. Paramita of Discipline II — The Scope of Bodhisattva’s Pure Conducts

Meditation Guide

The Beginning

Take refuge and arouse bodhicitta.

The Main Part

Think of the vast activities a bodhisattva must engage in. Every action of body, speech, and mind should be governed by the intention to help others. This includes maintaining mindfulness and vigilance at all times to prevent the arising of afflictions.

Reflect on the importance of the three ways to maintain discipline:

  • Using mindfulness to remember what to adopt and what to avoid.
  • Using vigilance to observe the state of the mind and actions.
  • Using conscientiousness to carry out practices with care.

Resolve: I will train in the vast conducts of the bodhisattvas and never let my mindfulness wander.

The Ending

Dedicate the merit of your practice to all sentient beings.
