The Beginning
Take refuge and arouse bodhichitta.
The Main Part
Meditate on the suffering of old age: When people get old, their physical strength fades and their bodies become frail. Their sensory organs fail; their eyesight dims, and their hearing declines. Their skin becomes wrinkled, their hair turns white, and their teeth fall out. Their memory fails, and they become slow and clumsy.
Old people are often disregarded and even despised by their own children and relatives. They become a burden to others and feel lonely and helpless. They are prone to various illnesses and live in constant fear of death.
Old age is an inevitable destination for everyone who is not taken by an early death. Therefore, resolve: While I am still young and have the strength, I must practice the Dharma diligently and prepare for the time of old age and death.
The Ending
Dedicate all the merit of your practice to all sentient beings.
