Lesson 2 from A Comprehensive Commentary on the Words of My Perfect Teacher completes the prologue homages — to Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu, Patrul Rinpoche's one and only root guru — then turns to the abstract and authorial vow, before closing with an extended practical appendix on daily retreat structure.
The lesson explains that Patrul Rinpoche listened to Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu's oral instructions twenty-five times before committing them to writing, and urges students to match that spirit of inexhaustible hearing. The teacher stresses that this text contains the essence of all nine vehicles and all major schools of both Tibetan and Han Buddhism, and warns against the scattered approach of chasing teachers and practices without ever settling on a foundation. The appendix — drawn from Khenpo Ngawang Pelzang and His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche — sets out a complete daily practice structure: rising with prayer, the seven-point posture, expelling the three poisons as coloured breath, Guru Yoga before every session, meditation on the guidance text as the main practice, dedication at the close, and falling asleep in the guru's light. The teacher states plainly that this single sequence has guided his entire life.
