43. Positive Actions of the Speech

Meditation Guide

The Beginning

Take refuge and arouse bodhichitta.

The Main Part

Meditate on the four positive actions of the speech:

Speaking the truth: Always being honest and reliable in one's communication.

Reconciling disputes: Using speech to bring people together and promote peace.

Speaking kindly: Using gentle and encouraging words that make others feel happy and at ease.

Reciting prayers and scriptures: Using one's voice to recite mantras, prayers, and the teachings of the Buddha.

Virtuous speech creates a positive atmosphere and benefits both the speaker and the listeners. Therefore, resolve: I will use my speech to bring benefit and joy to others and to praise the qualities of the holy beings.

The Ending

Dedicate all the merit of your practice to all sentient beings.
