The Main Part
Meditate: Since following a spiritual teacher is the key to the entire path, I must be very careful in choosing one. An authentic teacher is like a skilled physician who can cure the disease of my afflictions, while a false teacher is like a blind guide who will lead me into a pit of suffering.
I should not be swayed by a teacher's fame, wealth, or large following. Instead, I should examine their character, their knowledge of the Dharma, and whether their actions match their words. A false teacher is someone who is arrogant, greedy for fame and offerings, and lacks compassion for their students.
Therefore, resolve: I will not follow a teacher blindly, but will use the criteria taught by the Buddha to find a truly qualified and authentic guru.
The Ending
Dedicate all the merit of your practice to all sentient beings.
