76. Bodhicitta in Aspiration III — Considering Others More Important Than Oneself

Meditation Guide

The Beginning

Take refuge and arouse bodhicitta.

The Main Part

Think: "No matter how much I may suffer, it is only the suffering of one person. But the suffering of all sentient beings is limitless. Therefore, I will take upon myself the suffering of all others and give my happiness to them."

This practice involves seeing yourself as a servant or a bridge for all sentient beings. You should be willing to sacrifice your own comfort, reputation, and even your body to serve others without any expectation of reward.

Resolve: From now on, I will consider others' welfare more important than my own. I will dedicate my body, speech, and mind solely to the benefit of others.

The Ending

Dedicate the merit of your practice to all sentient beings.
